Middle School

Grades 6–8

The Middle School years are a time of discovery, independence, and growth. At Seacrest, students build the academic skills, confidence, and character that prepare them for the challenges of Upper School and beyond.

In a supportive and engaging environment, students deepen their understanding across disciplines while developing the independence, curiosity, and resilience that define successful learners.

Responsible | Engaged | Resilient

At Seacrest, Middle School students are challenged to think boldly, create confidently, and lead responsibly. As independence grows during these formative years, our whole-child approach supports students academically, socially, and emotionally.

Advisory—a small-group setting designed for connection and reflection—is a cornerstone of the Middle School experience. Here, students build meaningful relationships while developing executive functioning skills, self-awareness, and confidence.

Our curriculum balances academic rigor with opportunities for creative exploration. Through core subjects, the arts, computer programming and robotics, and public speaking, students strengthen their voice, build resilience, and grow into thoughtful, engaged members of the community.

Learning Through Experience

At Seacrest, learning extends beyond individual subjects. Our cross-disciplinary approach encourages students to connect ideas across disciplines and apply their learning in meaningful ways.

Experiential learning is a key part of this journey. Beginning in fifth grade, students participate in annual trips that build teamwork, resilience, and character. In sixth grade, students travel to the Marine Lab in Key Largo to explore Florida Bay and the Great Florida Reef. In seventh grade, students continue exploring the natural world through field-based experiences that bring their science studies to life, applying what they learn in the classroom to real-world environments.

In eighth grade, students deepen their study of the State of Florida by visiting historic sites that connect directly to their Social Science curriculum. They also journey to the mountains of North Carolina, where outdoor challenges foster confidence, leadership, and independence.

"In Middle School, students begin to discover who they are as learners and individuals. Our goal is to create an environment where students feel challenged, supported, and encouraged to explore their interests while developing the confidence to take ownership of their learning."

— Dr. Kory Gallagher, Co-Head of School/Head of Lower and Middle School
