Executive Functioning

At Seacrest, we are always on a quest to provide your children with the tools and programs that will enable them to be the best that they can be.  Last year we began to implement an Executive Functioning program.  Executive Functioning (EF) is the term used to describe the tasks of organization, time management, setting and managing goals, planning, and a host of other activities.  These are lifetime skills that, when implemented at a young age, translate into homework completed and handed in on time, projects planned and successfully completed, neat and tidy backpacks, and greater independence for the student.

We believe that Seacrest is one of the first schools in the nation to provide, on a school-wide basis, a systematic integration of the Executive Functioning theories and materials.  It is our goal that this comprehensive undertaking on our part will lead to academic and personal success for your child.

The EF program encompasses the entire school community: teachers, students, and parents. Throughout this past year we have even heard that many of our parents have used these EF tools in their own work place!  The basis for this program is the inclusion of key EF supplies for each student.  These EF supply packets (which are part of the supply fee that you pay each year) will be distributed to each student during the first week of school.  In addition, information regarding EF will be made available to parents throughout the school year both through letters home and informative Seacrest Seminars.
