"Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college. Team members apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. They then bring their solutions to competition on the local, state, and World level. Thousands of teams from throughout the U.S. and from about 25 other countries participate in the program. "

Regional Competition
March 6, 2010
A note from Mrs. Erin Duffy, Head of the Upper School:
Seacrest Odyssey of the Mind teams pulled out all stops this weekend and were "the best that they could be" at Regional competition Saturday with 192 teams representing our region.
The elementary team competed in the very difficult balsa wood structure. They came in 4th place and earned a berth at State Competition at University of Central Florida on April 9th and 10th.
The Middle School team that competed in the vehicle problem won 1st place in their problem area with a stellar vehicle, sets and skit, and will be travelling to state.
The Middle School team competing in the Humorous division won 1st place with food jokes, recycled materials for sets, and creative casting, and will be travelling to state..
The High School team won 1st place in the Classics division with witty dialogue, great props and excellent spontaneous work, and will be travelling to state.
3 teams in first place, 4 teams going to state, and our own Kate Workman winning the first, ever Odyssey of the Mind Sun Region College Scholarship. It was a special evening for Seacrest.
Please congratulate our teams!
