Middle School
Philosophy:
Proceeding from the premise that feeling good about oneself is the first step toward succeeding in whatever one attempts, we believe that the middle school at Seacrest encourages each student to develop the skills and attitudes needed to become the very best that one can be.
We provide:
A teaching staff who respect and understand the pre-adolescent to adolescent age group, perceive error as a learning opportunity, demonstrate flexibility of action and thought, possess an awareness of a child's view of the world, and maintain both a high energy level and a great sense of humor.
An interactive learning environment where each student is of paramount importance and where the opportunity to succeed in a challenging and integrated academic program is present for all students, individually and in cooperative settings.
A program planned specifically for middle level students that includes a wide range of intellectual, social, and physical experiences, while concurrently providing a gradual transition from a self-contained lower school to a departmentalized high school.
Specific learning strategies directed toward guiding students in developing responsibility and in how to study, how to explore, how to do research, how to think, how to solve problems, and how to learn independently.
A program that offers in-school and out-of-school educational experiences in the local environment, the community, the creative arts, foreign language, and state-of-the-art technology.
A program that encourages students to participate in service activities in the school as well as in the greater community.
Social experiences that support students during these pre-adolescent years as they explore, understand, find direction, and control their emotions and actions as individuals or in groups.
