We believe that the Arts are an integral part of a student’s education. Our Theatre program strives to cultivate students’ confidence, problem-solving skills and cultural literacy. Our modern world has put life’s emphasis on the end product- in theatre, we hope to highlight the process just as much as our productions themselves.
Children in our Lower School are exposed to drama through plays that they perform for parents and our community. In addition, our
younger students attend productions here on campus and at surrounding community resources such as the Naples Philharmonic and the Sugden Theater.
In the Middle School, students are introduced to their first full-scale production. Our Middle School shows are a unique opportunity for students to take on responsibilities both on-stage and off. Past shows include Footloose, Grease, and The Pirates of Penzance. Last year, our production of Rodgers’ and Hammerstein’s Cinderella was a treat for our entire community!
In the Upper School we empower students to follow their own creative impulses. At this level, our students’ ideas generate our sets, costumes and even the shows that we perform. In rehearsals, actors are encouraged to ask questions and create their own “best practices”. Our most recent shows include Arms and the Man, My Fair Lady and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. High school students are also invited to help with our Middle School production, creating another outlet for aspiring directors, stage managers and designers.
